What are the best studio monitoring headphones?

What are the best for rock and metal? I don't care for noise canceling headphones, and I would be willing to spend up to $500 for the best headphones I could get my hands on.

Beats are absolute crap as a "studio" headphone. No one actually uses them in the studio.

Anyway, if you're listening to rock and metal, you don't want a studio headphone. Studio headphones are accurate and detailed; but the downside is that they're usually boring, cold and analytical. Sometimes even thin-sounding.

For rock and metal, I suggest Grado. Any of the Grados will do. This is brand is renowned for its ability to reproduce band music.
