Recording Album on Apple Computer...?

-I just write original lyrics to other artist's instrumental tracks for fun. The vocals to my lyrics are only in my memory and nothing has been recorded. I wanna create my own original songs with my vocals.
-I am purchasing Apple computer soon...wondering exactly what I would need, besides the computer, to record my personal music and make an album. My musical styles leans towards pop/r&b/hip-hop. I don't have a live band or anything.
-I know I can make original beats with Garageband or Logic Express but for my vocals to be recorded and added to the beats, what do I need?
-I would like to be able to transfer my completed songs onto a CD. I can't find anything info on this specific situation.
-I wanna be able to do this solely on my own, in my bedroom, and do not need $1000 equipment. What extra equipment will I need to purchase to achieve this? Thanks

You can record with garage band.... i do not think you need a mike, but you might want one so you don't have to sing right next to the computer. You can upload the songs you create onto iTunes and then burn them onto CDs.
